Spring into spring at the Tahune Airwalk, 31 August 2015
The Tahune Airwalk has enjoyed a spring makeover and will re open tomorrow after maintenance was conducted to improve the visitor experience.
Maintenance included refurbishing the visitor centre and facilities, replacing boards on some walkways and track maintenance including the removal of potentially dangerous overhanging tree limbs.
Forestry Tasmania’s Chief Executive Officer Steve Whiteley said it was important to undertake the necessary maintenance and safety work ahead of the traditionally busy tourist season.
“Tahune Airwalk is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Tasmania and this upgrade will ensure our visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience with improved visitor amenities,” he said.
“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the site and hope they enjoy the improved facilities and the charm of the Huon River and surrounds at this time of the year.”
Arve road also received essential maintenance to ensure ongoing safety and usability of the road, including improved drainage to prevent serious deterioration of the pavement and roadside slashing to improve line of sight.
Road surface improvements will continue on Arve Road in the coming months as weather conditions allow.
To celebrate Fathers Day and the reopening Tahune Airwalk will host family fun days this weekend (September 5th and 6th) featuring face painting, balloon art, games and competitions with free entry for children and two for one adult tickets.
